Michael Simon and Robert Holt
Serve as Co-CIO
s

A CIO SHOULD BE A SEASONED INVESTOR

WITH A SUBSTANTIAL BREADTH OF EXPERIENCE

Robert Holt and Michael Simon have extensive investment management and capital markets experience across a range of markets and responsibilities over their careers that span a combined 70 years. Robert and Michael met in the mid-1990s during their time at Luther King Capital Management.

Most “outsourced CIOs”, often referred to as allocators, grow up in narrow silos focused only on manager due diligence. The multi-faceted investment experience of Robert and Michael provides unique perspective and insight across CIO functions.

The foundational experience of both Robert and Michael is managing investment portfolios of individual securities. That is important because it forms their comprehensive understanding of capital markets – including elements such as implementing asset allocation, public versus private investing, and indexing versus active management – and provides practical knowledge that informs manager due diligence.

While both Co-CIOs have uniquely broad experience, their underlying strengths are complementary. Robert founded Holt Capital Partners in 2001 and has spent decades advising clients on investment policy, asset allocation, and portfolio structuring. As a Senior Portfolio Manager at Invesco, Michael’s focus was deep fundamental analysis, after which he began consulting for investors and founder-CEOs of entrepreneurial companies.

Robert and Michael enjoy perspectives and industry contacts from their board contributions. Robert serves on the Investment Committee of the Rainwater Charitable Foundation and the Board of Directors of the North Texas Community Foundation. Michael serves on the Investment Committee of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and as a Trustee and Chair of the Audit Committee for The Oberweis Funds.

Both are CFAs.  For full bios, visit holtcap.com/bios
